Codebrew Software: a self-managed studio website built on EmDash

Codebrew Software Ltd, an independent games studio, needed a home for its games and studio news ahead of the Early Access launch of Sublight on Steam. Southmarsh Systems designed and built a fast, content-managed website on EmDash that the team can update themselves, with no developer needed for new games, news posts or media.

Codebrew Software is an independent UK games studio. Its first title, Sublight, is a space bullet-heaven roguelike now out in Early Access on Steam.

The studio wanted a single place to showcase its games, publish news, and point players towards Steam and its social channels, without relying on a developer every time something changed.

What we built for them

  • A clean, mobile-friendly studio site with Home, Games, News, About and Contact sections
  • A featured-game section on the homepage, with direct links to the Steam store page and trailer
  • Dedicated game pages, so each future title has its own home
  • A news section the team can post to straight from the admin panel
  • Media managed in the CMS, so artwork and screenshots can be swapped without code changes
  • Social and Steam curator links to grow the studio’s following
  • Privacy policy and core SEO and sharing metadata in place from day one

EmDash gave Codebrew a modern, lightweight CMS: quick page loads, a simple editing experience and a structure built around their actual content types (games and news) rather than a generic blog template.

Codebrew launched with a professional site that supports Sublight’s Early Access release and scales as the studio adds games. The team now owns their content day to day, and the site is ready to carry launch news, updates and future titles.
